The Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Ordinance contain most of the regulatory framework setting development parameters in Herndon. This page provides additional information on the development projects either under review, under construction, or recently approved. This page lists all of the forms for Planning and Zoning applications and the application fee schedule.

Single family houses outside the Heritage Districts are exempt from this review. Most new construction and renovation projects proposed in Town are required to obtain approval by either Herndon’s Heritage Preservation Review Board (HPRB) or the Architectural Review Board (ARB). All site plans, subdivision plans, single lot plans, plan revisions, and plat changes are handled through this process.
